Use Genuine Eureka or Sanitaire filters for the best performance in your vacuum. Never reuse old filters unless they are washable. Rinsing motor filters regularly, usually every 3-4 bag changes, and changing HEPA and Dust Cup filters will prolong the life of your vacuum. If your vacuum uses a washable HEPA filter, do not use any soap or chemicals when cleaning it, only warm water to rinse and let air dry for 24 hours outside of the vacuum, before using it again. Disposable HEPA and Dust Cup filters should be changed every 3-6 months.
Note: Powdery substances such as air freshening powder, flour, drywall dust, pet dander, & cleaning powders will clog your filters and not allow the air to flow through the motor. This will usually cause the motor to overheat and will reduce the suction in your vacuum. After vacuuming these types of substances, replace your filters.
